What end of year blockbusters are you grabbing?
It's that time of year again when each of the big publishers is going to release its biggest title in order to capitalise on the Christmas spending spree.
That makes it a good time to be a gamer. Rockstar's already pulled the trigger with GTA V, and Nintendo with Wind Waker HD, but we've got a lot more to come - Call of Duty and Battlefield, Assassin's Creed 4, etc etc.
So which ones (if any) are you looking forward to the most?
For me it's Assassin's Creed 4, which I badly want for my PS4... and I reckon Thief would be on the cards, but I don't think it's seeing a release this year. I'm not overly interested in what Nintendo has coming for either the Wii U or 3DS, sadly. It'll be a PlayStation and iPad Christmas for me, I suspect.

...>_> <_< Does Zelda 3DS count? Because that's all I'm grabbing that's not super-niche this year.
Re: What end of year blockbusters are you grabbing?
I guess that's the closest to a blockbuster the 3DS will be getting, haha.
I agree with you for the most part. There is going to be a load of niche games that will easily win me over the big blockbusters, but after AC3, I will make an exception for AC4. Series has really hit its stride.

Hard to say. I'm interested in teh shooters like CoD and Battlefield - though I know my son's even more interested. They're at the top of his PS4 list.
We have Windwaker as part of the Zelda Wii U bundle we bought, but won't be playing it until Christmas
I'm hoping for NBA 2K14 because I really enjoy the series, but whether I run out and buy it yet or not remains to be seen.
I am viewing this as more my chance to catch up on gaming backlog right now than anything. I worked over Persona 4 Arena and Battlefield 3 quite a bit over the weekend, and Batman Arkham Asylum last week. I'll probably knock out the story modes of black ops II and Modern Warfare 3 this week as well and then see where I'm at, but I've got a bunch of shorter games like that I just hadn't gotten through the campaign modes of.

Er, Pokemon X and Y don't count? :PThose will probably be my most played games until the new year knowing the number of people who still indulge in Pokemon around here. Though I must say, this might be the one to kill my obligation of completing the Pokedex. I could handle 493 and below but 649 was pushing it.MattS wrote:I guess that's the closest to a blockbuster the 3DS will be getting, haha.
Beyond that, just Sonic Lost World comes to mind. Perhaps not as blockbusting as most, but it'll certainly shift a million or two if previous games are any indication. Anything else I can think of is either niche or not essential.

October isn't too busy; just Beyond: Two Souls, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Batman: Arkham Origins.
November will be a bit busier, since the PS4 launches that then, and I will probably be getting one on launch day. I'll be picking up Battlefield 4, Knack, and Watch Dogs for sure. Maybe Assassin's Creed IV and Killzone: Shadow Fall, but it depends.
The week after will be The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Tearaway, and definitely Super Mario 3D World if I have a Wii U by then.
Not much in December, but I might check out South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Haha, I forgot about that completely for some reason.Midori wrote:Er, Pokemon X and Y don't count? :PThose will probably be my most played games until the new year knowing the number of people who still indulge in Pokemon around here. Bravery Default gets release in December in Australia too. Not a blockbuster perhaps, but a must have for my 3DS.
Re: What end of year blockbusters are you grabbing?
Nice, Bravely Default will make a wonderful holiday season. I really want the new Sonic and Mario games after that direct, but I probably won't get them until after Christmas.
