I started to play this about two weeks ago, but finally got a good long chance to sit with it last week, and overall I enjoyed the game. When I break it down to its parts, it seems like it should not be a ton of fun. The combat system is a bit repetitive, as is the music. A lot of the characters are at least somewhat unlikeable. That said, I really liked the graphics and the main two characters, Toki and Towa. The concept behind the two characters in-one-body thing was interesting. It felt like this game could have been better - maybe with more time or a bigger budget, but all in all I had fun with it.

I think my initial playthrough took about 28 hours, and my second one about 8 or 9. You cannot get the true/best ending or all of the trophies until you beat it a second time. Not a hard platinum to get - it just takes time. I know Matt picked this up, and it seems like one or two others were asking about it, so I'm curious if anyone else has played it yet? If so, thoughts?

I haven't played it, but my old editor in chief and my new one (Matt) have. I've gotten varying opinions from both of them, Matt liked it a bit more than my old editor did.

What would you score it if you had to?

Haven't played it either but I've had a mild interest since I saw the first screenshots over a year ago. Your description makes it seem that much more attractive a proposition since I'm fond of "shorter" (relatively speaking, that's still plenty) JRPGs lately. The repetitive aspects are presumably more bearable as a result too.

You didn't like the characters? I thought Drake was an awesome pervy dude Razz

Toki and Towa are the star of the show, I agree, and both are really excellent characters. It's a game that has faults, but I just can't get past how unique it is in the genre, and that makes it worthwhile, in my opinion.

I'd love to read your second opinion!

So, I did do a review, and it came out about the same as Matt's. His was 3 1/2 stars out of 5 - so on my 1-10 scale on my site, a 7. I pegged it at 6.75 - I enjoyed it as a sum better than the individual parts when it was said and done. Here's the review if anyone's curious:

I've also got a trophy walkthrough for it set to publish on Otaku Gaming on Monday if anyone's curious. Some of the trophies were a bit tricky to nab... *mutters something about the stupid lunches* Smile

Matt: I can't say exactly why, but Drake just bugged me, LOL. I'm okay w/ the amusingly pervy - I think it was the voice actor more than anything. Should-be-knight just came across... wrong in my mind? Smile
