Worst game of this generation?
Was wondering what you guys thought what the worst game of the generation was? Couple of specifications:
1. Avoid picking out indie games, or at least the small ones. I say this because it's easy to find really garbage indie games. Just look at Silver Dollar games, and their pile of trash on Xbox Live Indie Games.
2. Obviously there is a bit of subjectivity, but try to pick something that fails across the board, not something that was just disappointing to you and you alone. I have a few friends who hate Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 (mainly for their endings), but on a technical level, those games are well put together.
Personally, for me, I might have to give this one to Duke Nukem Forever. There very well could be worse games out there, but this is the worst I played (and beat) this generation. Aside from the awful story, graphics, music, level design, and all around gameplay, it tried to carry itself by poking fun at itself and other video games. If this game has taught me anything, it's that you can't use self-depracating humor as an excuse for bad gameplay.
"Oh, I guess we're gonna do a turret section now", and then busting out a turret section, DOES NOT A GAME MAKE.

Think of the children!
A short and sweet answer would be Red Steel 1. Plain and simple.

I think Legends of Pegasus had the worst launch (outside of the Sim City fiasco) of any game I have seen in a long time. That 4X strategy title had nearly 2 pages of bug notes and patches in 2 1/2 days.
Dungeons was a complete let-down for me on PC. Excellent premise, lousy execution.

Bomberman Act Zero and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) stand out to me for being more than just "bad" games but ones that severely tarnished the perceived quality of their franchises. Both are also littered with countless technical issues and major glitches.
I can normally sympathize with a developer and see what they were trying to do but I feel little of that for either game. In Sonic's case it was an unfinished title being rushed to the market to meet the PS3's release date but the story and the game's underlying concepts wreak of bad fanfiction. I don't believe it would have been as enjoyable as even say, Sonic Adventure with extra time.

While I sat around at work, I actually remembered Pimp My Ride, which is just awful. It's made by Eutechnyx, who just released Ride to Hell Retribution, which has scored 1's and 2's out of 10. The publisher EXPLICITLY told websites that they would not be sending out press copies, and this rarely happens.

I'd like to vote in Lord of the Rings: War In The North
It's like the developers saw Diablo and thought it would be a good idea to throw Turret sections into a HACK AND SLASH RPG. WITH TURRET SECTIONS.
A complete waste of the license.

LOL that was the first game I thought of to be honest, but I didn't list it because it's a small indie studio.

I vote for Fairytale Fights. Did anyone play test those controls?

You know, if we weren't taking technical proficiency into account and felt like using some hyperbole, I might be inclined to agree. I felt that game had a load of issues from the empty world (Wind Waker was at least more populated despite maybe having more travel time) to overwhelming hand-holding to the unnecessary questionable motion controls. Wasn't big on revisiting the same worlds three times a piece either, though I can see what they were going for.LordJumpMad wrote:Skyward Sword

Haha, JumpMad's trolls don't work here because people are inclined to agree with him. I really was not a fan of Skyward Sword. Nintendo lost me completely with the motion control stuff, and frankly never got me back. It was an awful experience.
Re: Worst game of this generation?
Skyward Sword was okay, but okay is not what I'm used to saying about a Zelda game. It's easily the third worst entry in the series IMO, after the only two genuinely bad ones, Phantom Hourglass and Zelda II.
Re: Worst game of this generation?
CanisWolfred - You liked Spirit Tracks? (I haven't played ST but I think PH is ok, and Zelda II certainly appeals to a certain audience).
I liked Skyward Sword, even if the motion controls were annoying sometimes.
I can't say what the worst game is(probably that gummy bears game for 3DS, sounded horrific from the review I saw), but both The Starship Damrey and Rayman 3D I disliked the most out of all the games from this generation I've played.

Re: Worst game of this generation?
The Starship Damrey was all kinds of disappointing, I agree. The Guild 02 collection in general was poor because Bugs Vs Tanks was Godawful, but Attack of the Friday Monsters redeemed it.
If they may a Guild 03 they should concentrate on getting developers on board that are going to create something special again, like Guild 01's collection.
And, yeah, anyone who liked Spirit Tracks has questionable sanity, as far as I'm concerned. The Zelda formula in general is stale and irritating now, but Spirit Tracks took things to a whole new level with the introduction of the single worst gimmick the series has ever seen.

Re: Worst game of this generation?
Call me a fanboy, but bad or not I'm getting Spirit Track. I wanna play every Zelda game, bad or not, and I'm getting close to having played them all.
Re: Worst game of this generation?
I actually refuse to play Spirit Tracks. It's the only one I haven't touched, and I'll probably keep it that way.
