What's your backlog look like?
A topic like this could have gone under handheld or PC gaming as well I suppose - do we need a 'General Games' forum? heh.
Anyway, my backlog is mostly made up on console games right now. With the PS4 rolling out near the end of this year, I really, REALLY want to plow through some of the backlog I've built up over the last year. In years past, i was lucky to get a few new games a year - lots of renting or borrowing. Over the last year or so though, I've seen some nice pay raises come my way at work and I find myself going "Oh, this looks good. And this, and this and..." and that doesn't even touch on digital discount sales and PlayStation Plus.
So, my goal is to finish off another 15-20 games before the PS4 comes out later this year. I was sitting back the other day trying to figure out what those games should be. A few of my top titles:
- Witcher 2/Xbox 360
- Lugi's Mansion 2/3DS
- Project X Zone/3DS
- Batman Arkham Asylum/PS3
- Batman Arkham City/PS3
- Halo 3/360
- Halo 4/360
- Killzone Trilogy/PS4
And then there's titles like God of War: Ascention and The Last of Us a co-worker is loaning me over the next few weeks, and I am like 80% of the way done with Persona 4, and I know I'll be trying some sports titles over the course of the year, like Madden and NBA 2K. My backlog of games I haven't beaten yet for my handhelds and consoles is probably 2 or 3 dozen deep. Yikes!
What about you guys? Anything in particular that is coming up that you just know you'll be sinking time into (like Madden in my case) or that's already been purchased and sitting on your shelf, staring at you expectantly as it waits to be played?

Re: What's your backlog look like?
To answer the topic's question, my backlog probably "looks like" a pile of shrink wrap-covered skeletons. Most games I play I end up beating or making respectable progress in. Somehow though, I seem to keep buying games I have every intention of playing and they collect dust.
Some awful offenders off the top of my head include:
Star Tropics for NES (I don't want to think about it)
Rampage: Total Destruction for Game Cube (gift from January 2007)
Tales of Vesperia for 360 (purchased December 2010)
Samurai Warriors Chronicles for 3DS (purchased May 2011)
Sonic and the Black Knight for Wii (purchased June 2012)
Kirby Mass Attack for DS (purchased January 2013)
Kirby is currently taking the lead as I actually took the cartridge out of the box...and put it in the DS I don't regularly use.
For games I've made actual progress in, I plan to complete Final Fantasy XIII (on the last chapter I believe), Kid Icarus Uprising (last few chapters), and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. I've actually played through the latter two times to the point of reaching the final dungeon but never beat it since my interest is completely dead at that point.

Ouch - completely dead at the end of a game - that's a killer. I haven't played Spirit Tracks, though my youngest loves it. Tales of Vesperia - I saw that for sale recently pretty cheaply. I nearly bought it. Then I remembered the stack of games that started this post for me.
Re: What's your backlog look like?
Man, my backlog will scare half of you guys away.
I currently own 758 games, both digital and physical. Of those:
- 157 are completed (100% done, nothing else to do)
- 55 are beaten (just beaten the main mode, or seen some sort of credits)
- 341 are unbeaten
- 205 can't really be tracked for completion. They are either games that don't have a typical progression (sports games), or they are other copies/versions of the same game. For example, I own HD versions and remakes of Metal Gear Solid 3, I don't track all of those for completion.
The main source of my unfinished games come from Steam and Good Old Games (179 between the two of them) because all these bundles and sales are too tempting to pass up.

Re: What's your backlog look like?
Yep, it's best I don't mention by backlog, because it's pretty woeful. My biggest problem is that I like RPGs. So, it's a point of pride that I have every single JRPG released in English for the PS3. It's a point of embarrassment that I've completed like 10 per cent of them once, and I've only completed one single JRPG twice (That was Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk 2).

Hey, you're about the same point in Tales of Graces f as I am!
What a coincidence!
Which reminds me I really should go back and complete that game. I haven't played it in months. I enjoyed it but things (Atelier Ayesha and Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, mostly) kinda came up and but Tales on the backburner.
Re: What's your backlog look like?
I'd be much further in if I weren't playing it with my bro, whose free time doesn't quite synch up with mine. We only get to play on the weekends, basically.
Re: What's your backlog look like?
Mine is a disaster right now. So many unplayed/unfinished games.
Of course Animal Crossing had to come out and negate and possible progress being made.

It looks terrible. I'm so confused to what to play next.

ROFL - man... I almost feel like we need a therapist or a hotline or something after I opened THAT can of worms LOL
Re: What's your backlog look like?
This reminds me that I need to update my Backloggery. I'm probably at 20-30% completion. Like a lot of others, I picked up games in Humble bundle/ GOG sales with the intention of playing them, but then another bundle / sale happens and the "to Play" pile just keeps getting larger.

I don't care what is in my backlog - I'm just going to keep on playing Animal Crossing and be happy.

Re: What's your backlog look like?
rofl@Chris - you know, my son's been needling me about Animal Crossing lately. So does not seem like a game he would normally show interest in, but he wants it.
I've been poking pretty heavily at Time and Eternity, NCAA Football 14 and Chain Blaster the last few days. I just picked up Shin Megami Tensei IV, so as soon as I can knock off Time and Eternity, I'll move onto that. I think I'm nearing the home stretch. I need to wrap up Persona 4 golden as well. I'm so close, I just haven't had much time the last week or so.
