The Guided Fate Paradox
Minor spoiler for my upcoming review: it is awesome
It made me realise something - I haven't played a true next-gen roguelike. I'm not sure one even exists on the PS3 prior to this game - Tokyo Jungle is perhaps the closest, and its levels aren't procedurally generated. Other than that, the Wii was the last console that had any in numbers.
Legasista was closeish too, but action, rather than turn based like roguelikes should be.
So, if you like roguelikes, or hard-as-nails RPGs, then this game is going to blow your mind when it releases to the public in a month or so.

Re: The Guided Fate Paradox
I was excited about this until I realized it was a rogue-like. I like rogue-likes, but I think NIS might be terrible at them if Legasista and ZHP are anything to go by. Plus I hear it has a super-slow beginning, which for a rogue-like, is a terrible way of setting up the beginning. I like rigue-likes so I can get into it immediately, without all the crap that comes with your usual RPG...
I'll keep your sentiments in mind...MattS wrote:Minor spoiler for my upcoming review: it is awesome

So, has anyone else picked this up, aside from Nick and myself? I'm hecka keen to chat about my favourite JRPG this side of Atelier a Meruru
Re: The Guided Fate Paradox
I will admit, I haven't beaten it yet. I got about 3/5 of the way through based on the trophies, but got derailed with too many other titles of late. I did also hit a point where a ton of grinding felt like it was needed to progress, though I have some pretty solid gear now (of course, you don't want to have to rely on said gear, since a death can wipe it from you completely). I too am curious if anyone else has given this a go. My son played it a fair amount, and he's really not a strategy or rpg guy. He liked it well enough, but not as much as I did.
