Played any great Vita games lately?
Many people are claiming that the Vita is a failed console and doesn't offer anything to play. Anyone with Vitas realises otherwise, so I thought I'd get this thread up and running so that Vita fans can jump in and discuss what they've been playing recently, and offer recommendations for people who have just picked up the console, or considering grabbing one.
Thanks to Animal Crossing and a couple of great Virtual Console releases I've been playing my 3DS more the last couple of weeks, but before that I was all about the Vita. As a JRPG console it's a powerhouse - Soul Sacrifice, Persona 4 Golden and Atelier Totori are all essential titles for fans of the genre.

Nope, but I have played Guacamelee! and Hotline Miami, both of which are cross-buy/cross-play titles, which means they are roughly the same experience. I was a huge fan of Guacamelee! (beat it twice in two days, got the platinum trophy as well), and I will be playing it again when the DLC goes back up (it was taken down due to glitches it caused).
Hotline Miami is also great, loving it on the PS3, and I heard it also plays well on the Vita. It was one of my favorite games of last year on the PC.

Yeah, I do NOT buy the Vita as a failed console thing, but then I loved my PSP - but now I get messages, trophies and bigger games. Personally, the Vita has been full of win for me. Uncharted was fun, though not as good as its console brethren. I am like 80% of the way through Persona 4 Golden right now. The game's flipping amazing.

Good fighting game, that one. Persona 4 Arena on the PS3 has replaced it as my favourite 2D fighter though.

I should turn mine on sometime. If only it had Animal Crossing on it, I'd play it much, much more.

This, pretty much. I don't think the Vita has been removed from its case once since I downloaded AC on its launch day. Still, I plan on giving Muramasa a spin at some point if I can pry myself away, as I never got to play the original version.Chris I. wrote:I should turn mine on sometime. I really enjoyed Muramasa on Wii - so that's one I'm looking forward to on Vita.

Besides P4G, nothing really. However, I want Dragon's Crow. That game looks bananas.

Did you try Disgaea 3 or Atelier Totori? Every JRPG needs to have those two on Vita!
Re: Played any great Vita games lately?
I plan on picking up Disgaea 3 some day! Is it better to buy retail or download? If it's a game that I'm likely to play over and over again like P4G or something, then I might consider dling it.MattS wrote:Did you try Disgaea 3 or Atelier Totori? Every JRPG needs to have those two on Vita!

Unless you find a radical price difference between the retail and digital copies, I'd go with digital. The original game on PS3 could net you over a hundred hours and all the bonus content will elevate that further. I bought it around launch last year and still have plenty to do (granted, there were several distractions ).

I'd recommend the download if you have a 32GB memory card (Disgaea 3 is something like 4GB in itself). It's the kind of game that is nice to have there ready to play whenever.
But that comes with the disclaimer that I download every Vita game that I buy. I don't see much need to buy retail when the PSN is that well integrated with the console. So if you do buy retail games, it's probably worth taking my suggestion with a grain of salt
One other game I forgot to mention - Soul Sacrifice. That game continues to surprise me. Don't take that with a grain of salt, it's seriously awesome.

Another one worth having on the Vita is Chaos Rings. I got it a few weeks ago when it came out on the PS Mobile and it is really good. It took me by surprise since is a Mobile game, but after playing it for hours I was impress with the quality of the game and it has a really interesting story with multiple characters to use. Oh, and is from Square Enix!

Yep - I have Chaos Rings and its sequel on iPad, and they're both great fun. It's good that Mobile has games of that kind of standard.
Tokyo Jungle Mobile is another good one on PSM.
Re: Played any great Vita games lately?
I knew that Chaos Rings was on mobile - hadn't even looked at it for something on the Vita. Having finally just wrapped up Persona 4 Golden, I'm trying to figure out what to tackle next on there. I should probably give Blazblue a go.

Played some Gravity Rush and Super Star Dust on my Friends Vita if that counts. Really liked what I played, the system definitely ousts the 3DS in almost every aspect (Screen display, ergonomics, PSN, etc.) Wish I wasn't a retro game collector, I'd definitely own one right now if it wasn't for my Impulse on the NGP color carts.

It's the indie games that is really exciting about the Vita. Sony's done a great job opening the platform up, and the sheer variety of games on offer now is amazing.Played some Gravity Rush and Super Star Dust on my Friends Vita if that counts. Of course, the big budget (Soul Sacrifice) stuff is great too.
